Cistus/Rock Rose

Cistus/Rock Rose is a broad bush with a vast number of branches and simple, stalked leaves. These leaves, along with the blossoms, are the foundation of all our rock rose products. Rock rose, also referred to as Cistus, bear an aromatic resin called labdanum. This resin is often used for incensing evenings and ceremonies. Its short-lived leaves are usually pink, white, yellow, or purple with a creased structure. Cistus plants exist in a vast variety in the Mediterranean region, as they prefer a dry climate and grow on rocky, nutrient-poor soils.

The very common dandelion received its name from the appearance of its leaves. It is a widespread herbaceous plant. For centuries, all parts of the plant have been used to enjoy the advantages of its rare bitterns, such as the eudesmanolide ‘tetrahydroridentin-B’ or the germacranolide ‘ainslioside taraxinic acid’.

Furthermore, the root contains the following:

  • triterpene (e. g.: taraxaserol)
  • sterols (e. g..: sitosterol)
  • flavonoids
  • coumarins
  • mucilage
  • inulin

The plant’s root tuber contains no substances harmful to the human body and is therefore easily integrated into the cuisines of the world.
